I want to start by explaining that I am not a beauty pro or even claim to know the basics about make-up, but recently, as part of my quarter life crisis and an attempt to fool people about the wrinkles popping up on my forehead, I've tried spending a little more time (and money, let's be honest) with products that actually achieve a look I am going for when I share my face with the world.
What is the look I'm trying to achieve? Oh you know, that ever popular "no make-up" but actually make-up aka "fresh face" phase that's making the rounds. Basically, I want to look natural and glowing without looking like I bathed in a VAT of clumpy concealer. Turns out this is a harder look to achieve than it seems, which is why most days I take the easy way out with just some mascara, or don't even bother with anything at all (which I immediately regret when walking past a mirror). I think like all other things, there is a time and place for make-up. The gym, no. I'm not trying to clog my pores and have pubescent facial acne. Work or meals out with friends, yes, because I want to.
So this sudden urge sparked a trip to Sephora. Guys, this place is nuts. Always. I get lost, confused, forget my name and address. Honestly, if you don't go in there with a map of the store and a list of the things you need, forget about it. I didn't have a map or a list, so you know what that means...I bought more than what I came for. Then this happened, I started working for a new cosmetics company that same week, called IT Cosmetics. Now, I've worked for a couple cosmetic brands in the past and wasn't sold on the product enough to integrate it into my make-up routine. But after just a few days of working in the office, seeing the product and learning more about it I decided to give it a try. Annddd.... now I'm hooked. I'm 100% not being paid to give this review by the way. This is real life... I like my face better with IT Cosmetics.
What is IT Cosmetics you ask? Yeah, it was the first time I was hearing about it as well but I think that will all soon change as they are popping up in Sephora, Ulta and other great locations and were recently purchased by L'Oreal. I won't go into too much depth here but you can learn more about them on their site. What I will tell you is that the "IT" stands for "Innovative Technology" and is developed with the help of Plastic Surgeons. Basically, if you have any type of skin concerns like acne, hyper-pigmentation, dryness, redness, dark under eyes, birth marks ect...this stuff is going to be your new holy grail. I am fortunate enough to not have many of these however I do often experience dryness and redness in those cold winter months.
I have not only swapped out a few of the things currently in my make-up bag, like foundation, blush, and bronzer, for IT Cosmetics, but I have also added under eye concealer and a highlighter/contouring pallet (completely new items to me).
So let me break it down for you step-by-step.This is what you see on my "after" picture.
Step 1: Moisturizer: Confidence in a Cream (IT Cosmetics) $48
Step 2: Your Skin But Better CC + Full Coverage Cream in Light (IT Cosmetics)
BONUS:Anti Aging, Hydrating and has a 50SPF- $38 I apply this using a IT Foundation Brush . I have found that applying with a brush has made a HUGE difference in the way it looks. $48
Step 3: Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in Light (IT Cosmetics) $24
You need VERY little so it'll last you forever, I chose to apply with an IT Cosmetics Concealer Brush $24
Step 4: The Sculptor Contouring Stick (Tart) This is contouring for dummies. It's a big crayon for your face
Step 5: Blend contouring with IT Cosmetics Complexion Brush $48
Step 6: Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Pallet (IT Cosmetics) $42
This is my blush, bronzer, highlighter and setting powder which also "blurs" the pores.
Step 7: Goof Proof Brow Pencil (Benefit) $24
Step 8: Superhero Mascara (IT Cosmetics) $24
Step 9: Tattoo Liner (Kat Von D) $20 This has a felt tip like a marker
There is some stuff sprinkled in these steps that's not by IT Cosmetics, however everything in there they also make, I just haven't had the ability to get my hands on it yet. I recommend IT Cosmetics for younger or older ladies who are looking for something that is bound to give you amazing results without being a professional make-up artist.
What I know you're going to ask:
How long does all this take you?
Maybe 10 minutes from beginning to end? So no, you don't have to roll out of bed an hour earlier.
Does it feel heavy?
Gross, No! You think I'd have just taken the time to write to you about heavy make-up?
Is it expensive?
I listed the price of each item next to it above in the steps. You decide what is expensive, I don't know your beauty budget. Do I think all of it is comparable to competitors claiming similar results, yes.
Does it really work?
I 100% believe this works for every skin concern I've seen it used for and if you need to see for yourself, you're in luck. Prepare to have your mind blown here.
Did you get paid to write this?
Were you skimming this post? Busted! A big, fat, NO I did NOT. I genuinely wanted to share because I love IT (pun intended)
Lastly, don't forget to cleanse and tone your face before bed, ladies! Luckily if you don't, IT Cosmetics will cover the acne but let's not need to:) If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions, leave them in the comments below. Enjoy!
